With Valentine’s Day approaching, love is on the mind and in the air.

Love in its infinite variety is the most powerful emotion and, therefore, provides us with the greatest level of pleasure and the greatest depth of pain. As we focus our attention on love in the month of February, perhaps you will find the following expressions helpful to keep in mind in order to maintain a healthy relationship with love:

Love overlooks a lot

Good looks won’t keep the fire burning

Just because there is snow on the roof does not mean there is no fire within

Love is blind and marriage is an eye-opener

Only give your tears to someone who deserves them

As the holidays wind down and we return to work, you may have that feeling of “ugg” thinking about the office nonsense you will have to face. Let’s face it, unless you have a trust fund, you have to work and not everyone at your workplace is someone you want to spend all day with. You may find the following expressions helpful to remember when the offices games start to tap dance on your nerves:

Empty barrels make the most noise

Be above that

Give them enough rope and they will hang themselves

Consider the source

Crème always rises to the top

I hope you find these wise words and witty expressions helpful as you navigate your workplace. Don’t let the shenanigans of others detract from your God-given right to be at peace.

I have some exciting news to share. I will be at the Deerfield Spa located East Stroudsburg, PA during the entire week of July 22, where I will be giving a lecture series on the value of expressions and on the journey of being a self-published author. God does work in amazing ways. I stayed at the spa this past October for a long weekend and met the owner, Joan Wolff. I shared with her my book, which she purchased and then later reached out to me to do an event at her spa for a week in the summer. I am really looking forward to this opportunity and meeting the wonderful new and returning clients that Joan welcomes year after year. If you are looking for a great place to unwind and relax, come out and meet me at Deerfield Spa.

Children’s Book Updates

Over the holidays, I had a break from my day job and some time to pick up the work on my new book project, a children’s book of wise words and witty expressions. I have developed my characters, their storyline, and now need to finish their story and fine tune my approach. Having a well-illustrated children’s book will be an important part of success. Therefore, I have begun doing my research to see how best to produce my book with wonderful illustrations. After publishing my first book, I learned a lot, have more to learn about the ever-changing publishing world, and everything to learn about the children’s book market. I have many ideas and options I need to weed through to determine how best to develop and deliver my new book. I am looking forward to seeing where this new journey will take me and sharing that journey with you as I progress.

New Year’s Wish

May you and your families enjoy a New Year full of peace, good health, and prosperity!

The New Year brings with it a time for reflection of the past year and an opportunity to look forward to blessings to come in the New Year. This is important because we cannot know where we are going if we do not know where we have been, and we can’t move forward if our feet are cemented in the past. Therefore, take a few moments to reflect and celebrate the victories, smiles, and warm memories the last year has blessed you with. Then take a moment and remember the tears that came to your eyes and the struggles you survived and learned from. Both your joyous and sorrowful moments have enriched you, made you stronger, and even wiser.

Now, take a breath and prepare to welcome in all the blessings the New Year has in store for you and remember:

December is one of the most exciting months of the year, as we anticipate the arrival of Christmas. We are busy with our preparations–decorating, cooking, baking, and shopping. There is an excitement in the air as we hurry in and out of shops with our packages and re-check our lists to be sure that no one has been forgotten.

In the flurry of activity and excitement of the season, it is easy to financially over extend ourselves in our desire to make Christmas special for our loved ones. You may find it helpful to remember the below expression, which is said with Irish humor and sarcasm:

A fool and their money are soon parted.

It may feel great initially to go over-the-top with gifts and items to make the holiday even more festive, but January credit card statements will arrive before we have put down our last eggnog. That feeling of euphoria will then be quickly replaced by anxiety fuel by worries about how many months it will take to pay for Christmas.

Take a moment in the rush of the holiday season to remember that your family and friends really just want to spend time with you. So don’t wear yourself out unnecessarily and overextend yourself in such a way that you cannot peacefully enjoy the pleasure of their company.

May you each have a very Merry Christmas and may the New Year bring you peace, health, and prosperity!

Thanksgiving is the time of year when families and friends come together to enjoy a tasty meal, enjoy each other’s company, and express gratitude for our many blessings. While this tradition is something we look forward to each year and an important marker for recognizing our good fortune, throughout the year we likely are too busy and stressed to remind ourselves how special our lives are.

It is easy to fall into this pattern when we race from task to task, some of which we enjoy and others we do out of obligation. Then life sends us challenges we did not anticipate; things we wished for do not come true; things take longer than necessary, or are harder to accomplish than they should be. When these patterns continue for what seems like too long, it can cause us to overlook the favorable aspects of our life and look enviably at someone else’s seemingly charmed life. During these periods, it is helpful to remember:

If you could put down your troubles and pick up someone else’s, you would pick your own troubles back up again.

We all have challenges; even those who we believe have a better deal than us.

The next time life is sending you down a difficult path or just going by too quickly, don’t wait until Thanksgiving to remember how blessed you are. You can find new healing energy by focusing on all the positive aspects of your life. That mindset will help see you through the challenge you find yourself faced with.

This tradition reminded me of an expression in my book, Wise Words & Witty Expressions:

He is a wolf in sheep’s clothing

While Halloween is great, innocent fun, there are those among us that practice Halloween year-round. The costumes they wear are their outward appearances, which conceal the true person they are—one in pursuit of satisfying their own interests.

It is wise, therefore, to remain vigilant for these impostors and protect yourself from their hidden agendas. Like celebrating Halloween, you will need to look carefully to see who is behind the costume. When you look hard enough at these fakers, eventually they do or say something that gives them away.

Happy Halloween!

Please take a moment and click here to vote for me from October 1-8.

Since winners are based on the number of votes received by the public, please share this link with your friends and family and ask them to vote for me too!

As a moonlighting self-published author, who has responsibility for the marketing and public relations work for my book, an award like this would mean a great deal in helping to drive awareness for “Wise Words & Witty Expressions.”

Thank you so much for your support!
