
It seems that we are living in a time when many people are unwilling to take responsibility for their actions and are also willing to make excuses for the poor actions of others. This is most unfortunate, because the only one anyone has any control over is themselves and holding others responsible for their actions is the only way to improve a difficult situation.
Below are some expressions I heard from my mother growing up that reminded me that she was going to hold me accountable for my behavior, and she did. I would roll my eyes when I heard these expressions, but she gets the last laugh because I remembered them.
- You burnt your ass, you sit on the blisters
- Remember who you are and where you came from
- Don’t ask someone else to do something you yourself would not do
