Share with Me Your Favorite “Wise Words & Witty Expressions”

August 22nd, 2009 · 8 Comments

“Wise Words & Witty Expressions” represents the expressions I heard growing up.  I would love to hear from you and learn the “Wise Words & Witty Expressions” you remember to help you navigate your way through life’s ups and downs.

Maybe your expressions represent the geographic region of the United States you live in or maybe they are reflective of your ancestry.  Please leave me  a comment and tell me your favorite expression.

I would love to collect enough expressions from my readers to write a second edition of “Wise Words & Witty Expressions.”  Perhaps you will even see your expression in my next book!

I look forward to hearing from you.

All of life’s best to you always!

My grandmother always used to say to me, “it’s easy when you know how”. I find myself saying that alot now as an adult but at the time I didn’t really “get it”.

Hi Renee, the book cover is beautiful.

Just thought of something an old Irishwoman used to say: “Never a road without a turn”!

    Looking forward to the book.

    Ms. Gatz

Reading your book brought to mind something my grandfather had told me on numerous occasions. He would tell me “You have two ears and one mouth, so you should listen twice as much as you speak.” I sometimes find myself sharing this knowledge with a student from time to time.

    Good Luck

My Father who was Irish, had always said if we had a little injury as a child, Don’t worry, it will be better before you are married, he had got this from his mother. Eileen O’Connor Perruso

Thank you for sharing this. It made me smile because it has the same sentiment that I grew up with from my Irish mother.

    Renee,
One thing my Mother (she being half Irish and half German and my Father being all Irish) would always say to me…”Never let the right hand know what the left hand is doing!”‘
That saying can be interpreted however you like.

My dad, Maurice Heffron, who was “Irish as Paddy’s Pig,” used to say, “It’s worse where there isn’t any…” when kids would complain…and when asked what was for dinner, he’d suggest that it might be, “Potato and point.” His view of genealogy was that one should approach it carefully because you “might find out that your grandfather smuggled whiskey.”
